Judging Centre News On behalf of myself and all the judges at the Toronto Centre I would like to wish everyone a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year. I would also like to express our thanks to all the donors of plants and all the other goodies, and to all the bidders for the wonderful enthusiasm at the recent auction. The money raised will certainly make it much easier to pay our expenses and keep the Centre Library up to date.

Please remember that the judging is open to anyone to watch. Also if you have a plant and can not make it to the judging please feel free to call one of the judges and we would be happy to take your plant in for its chance at fame.

We welcomed the following new student judges at our meeting on December 3:

bullet

Michael Lum from Ottawa

bullet

Joyce Medcalf from Kingston

bullet

David Latter from Halifax

bullet

Gail Schwarz from Nova Scotia

bullet

Simon Levasseur from Montreal

We are looking for anyone interested in photography to come in and help Jay. He is willing to teach his techniques and will allow you to use his equipment at the judging. Please let any of the judges know.

Thanks again,
Mario Ferrusi

Other Judging News

We want to judge your plants. Last month at the SOOS meeting I was amazed at the number of quality plants that were on display on the show table. I wondered out loud as many of you heard as to why these plants had not been brought to the judging center the day before. If you do not want to come to the center then why not give the closest to you judge a call and have them bring the plant in for you. This would free up your Saturday and you could possibly get an award on your plant. The fee for receiving an AOS award is $40 American if you are an AOS member. For this you receive a slide of the awarded plant and a signed certificate with the name of the plant and the owner’s name. Occasionally one of the plants awarded at the Toronto Center is printed in color and on rarer occasions they have even made the cover of the AOS magazine. All of the judges would love to see your plants and work very hard to see if it deserves an award.

Thank you, Mario Ferrusi, Chairman

Personnel Changes. At its semi annual meeting on June 4th., the Toronto Judging Centre recommended the following promotions to the AOS Judging Committee for consideration at their fall meeting:
