Lc. Coastal Sunrise ‘Cariad’s Dawn’ HCC/AOS, CCM/AOS
In bud with 2 inflorescences, one with 3 buds, and the other will probably also have three buds.

    by: John Vermeer

Rlc. Michael Tomihama ‘Vermeer’s Sparkle’ (C. Circle of Life x Rlc. Ryo Iwata)
9.5cm flowers nearing their end, but another new growth is in sheath, so it should bloom again in January or February. A vigorous grower. As it bulks, up this plant should bloom 3-4 flowers per inflorescence.

    by: John Vermeer

C. Raspberry Smoke (Allen Condo x Maui Plum).
I grew this plant from a tiny seedling plug, and have abused it. This is the first flowering, but it could have flowered 4-5 yrs ago.
This grex (same seedpod) has produced 12 AOS awards, including an FCC, and the ‘Holy Smoke’ AM/AOS cultivar produced 21 flowers with a 11.0cm natural spread on a single inflorescence.
It’s very likely that this plant is just getting started, and should bloom much better in the future. Fragrant.

    by: John Vermeer

C. Llory Ann ‘Paradise’ AM/AOS (Memoria Robert Strait x Jungle Flare).
Very fragrant in good light. Vigorous grower and easy to flower, and will flower multiple times per year.
A large plant, easily divided into separate 4 and 5 pseudobulb plants.
When it was awarded, this cultivar had three 9.0cm flowers on a single inflorescence.

    by: John Vermeer

Lcr. Fair Jewel ‘Lilac Bells’ CCM/AOS
This is a division of Jean Allen-Ikeson’s CCM/AOS plant, which had 156 flowers with a natural spread of 4.5cm and firm substance on 17 inflorescences when it was awarded.
It is a compact growing, vigorous plant that throws multiple new growths per year, and flowers readily. This newest growth may be the largest that I’ve ever grown, almost double the size of the previous pseudobulbs. It has a flower sheath developing.

Bc. Morning Glory ‘Valentine Kiss’ (C. purpurata x B. nodosa).
This plant is going to make a spectacular display for th winning bidder as it is in bud, 10 in total on 4 inflorescences (3,3,2 and 1).
This plant grows like crazy, throwing multiple new growths per year. First time blooming for me, but I purchased 2 seedling plants in June 2023, and have donated the larger one for auction.

Rth. Mem. Myriam Pereira 'Josee Mon Amour' HCC/AOS (Rlc. Jerry Rehfield 'Paradise Rose' x Chocolate Drop 'SVO' AM AOS)
The outdoor photo was taken on Canada Day, July 1, 2024 with 4 flowers on an inflorescence. The indoor photo is an official award photo taken at the SOOS annual Show in February 2024 with 3 flowers on an inflorescence. This plant has 3 nearly mature new growths all with flower sheaths, of which two have visible buds which should bloom within 6 weeks, meaning that the plant will have bloomed 3 times within the span of 1 year. It also has a new lead breaking that is about 1cm long when the photo was taken.
This is a vigorous cultivar that blooms readily. This is the first time that I have offered a piece of this plant for sale or auction.
The plant was divided into two pieces on Sep.2 , 2024, and I'm donating the largest division for auction. The plant's older roots have suffered post division; however this plant starts new roots as the new growth reach maturity, and I've included a photo which shows new roots starting already. The newly maturing growths are slightly smaller that the previous growths, but I expect the subsequent growths to be larger, and I would not be surprised if the plant needs dividing within the next year as it will be crowding the edges of its container.

Pcv. Exotic Lime Sorbet 4n (Bc. Gulfshore's Beauty Green Dean 'HCC AOS 4n x Ctyh. Lime Sherbet '4N') (SVO 9720) is an extraordinarily consistent cross with the 8 different cultivars that I've seen looking quite similar.
This is a first bloom, tetraploid (double the normal chromosomes) seedling plant. It is a robust grower (a new mature growth has finished on the growth in bloom), and the cross appears to bloom readily.
The awarded parent grexes have had up to 5 and 4 flowers per inflorescence respectively, so I suspect that at maturity, one could expect 4-5 flowers per inflorescence from this cross. This particular flower has been open for 4 weeks, and still has very firm flower substance, hence I expect that it will bloom for 5 weeks or longer.
I've also included a photo a sibling plant from Loc Tran in California with 3 flowers on an inflorescence, as well as an AOS award photo description of the first plant of the grex to be awarded.

C. (Culminant 'La Tulierie' AM AOS x Aloha Case 'Ching Hua' AM AOS)
No awards here, but cheery flowers on an easy growing plant. This division of my plant suffered in my week long “light out” in October 2022, and is now back to normal size and should bloom consistently from here on.
The flowers have been open for 4 weeks and are starting to fade, but this plant should bloom twice a year with good light.

    by: John Vermeer

Rth. Whiskey Bay ‘Carpinteria’ HCC/AOS is a vigorous compact Cattleya. When Stewart Orchids had it awarded in 1995 the plant had 34 flowers and 3 buds on 5 inflorescences, therefore it will bloom at least 7 flowers per inflorescence.
This plant was divided and repotted on August 18, 2023, so it should flower better with each new growth. This plant is in sheath with visible flower buds, perhaps 3 or four, however it can flower at least 7 flowers per inflorescence, as it did when it received its AOS award in 1995.

    by: John Vermeer

Lc. Miss Wonderful 'Miss Poppy Spencer' (C. Mari's Song 'CTM 217' HCC AOS x L. anceps 'White Marble')
This cultivar is a robust grower and will make multiple new growths per year. A sister division flowered in late August, early September ( see photo) while this division should bloom in late December.
I’ve bloomed it with three 14.4cm flowers on an inflorescence (forgot to take a photo, or I can’t find it) however it should be capable of at least 4 flowers per inflorescence. Spectacular!! Which is why I named it after my grand daughter.

    by: John Vermeer

Ctt. Bay Orange 'San Diego' HCC/AOS, CCM/AOS (Oroyum x Rajah's Ruby)
This plant is a robust grower, as seen in the photo of Jean Allen Ikeson’s CCM/AOS award plant, of which this is a division, and blooms readily. Her plant had one inflorescence with 6 blooms when awarded, and 39 flowers in total on 9 inflorescences.
This is probably the best that I have grown it, so I expect at least 4 flowers on the current growth that is in sheath and thick with buds.

    by: John Vermeer

Rlc. Sharon Forsythe 'Orange Red' (Joy Sokabe x Tadao Kozumi) is a back division of a plant that I purchased from Krull-Smith in Florida in 2022.
It has reached a size where it is now producing flower sheaths, although I don’t see any buds at the moment, but some Cattleyas produce sheaths and then bloom later. My plant usually blooms in April.
I have bloomed it with 4 fragrant flowers on an inflorescence.

Rlc. Siam White 'The Best' (Rlc. Elizabeth Hearn x C. Gertrude Hausermann) is a compact, easy growing plant that usually puts out 2 new growths per growths per lead per year, so it increases quickly in size. The huge white flowers may have a small dash of color on the edge of the lip, and the flowers are fragrant.
I’ve had 5 flowers on an inflorescence, but they are then quite crowded, so it looks better with 2-4 flowers. There is a reason it had the clonal name ‘The Best’ !!
This plant had a new growth well on its way.

    by: John Vermeer

Bc. Hawaii Stars 'Hsinying' (B. Little Stars × C. Memoria Robert Strait) is very vigorous and easy to grow and bloom. It adds multiple growths throughout the year, and the flowers have a delicious, fresh citrusy fragrance.
The flower photo had 25 flowers including an inflorescence with 6 flowers. When people see it in person, they are always asking if I have a division, so this is your chance.
This plant has 3 new growths developing.
